I’m Jake Portock, a financial advisor with Rock Bridge Financial Advisors, and I work with college coaches.

Before entering financial services, I spent five years coaching at Central Methodist University, first as a graduate assistant and later as a full-time assistant coach. I coached cross country, assisted in track and field, and served as a recruiting coordinator. My time as a coach gives me more than a surface-level understanding of the profession. I know the pace, the pressure, the uncertainty, and the way college coaches tend to think.

Today, I help college coaches make confident financial decisions so they can focus on building their programs. My work often centers on career volatility, benefits decisions, long-term planning, and wealth management for coaches at different stages of their careers. My planning philosophy is simple: a good financial plan should account for the reality of a coach’s life without needing to be torn up and rebuilt every time something changes.

My approach is direct, practical, and thoughtful. I’m not interested in making things sound more complicated than they need to be, and I believe the right plan is one a client can understand, trust, and actually follow.

I’m originally from the Greater Philadelphia area, and I moved to Missouri in 2015. I now live in Columbia with my wife, Paige, and our two cats, Jasper and Maude. Outside of work, I spend a lot of my time running and doing yoga.
